Te Rata has natural hot springs of various temperatures that provide a warm shoreline. Chloride pools are formed by hot water which escape through numerous cracks and trickle down the beach to mingle with the lake water.

Be dropped and collected at the start and finish of one of the walking tracks around the lake (only accessible by boat).
